Learning&Visiting Malta 2018

On Monday we began to learn about WebQuests.  A WebQuest is a lesson format in which all the information comes from the web. It can be created through several programs. What we want is that our pupils independently solve a central problem. The WebQuest is a task where pupils know exactly what the structure are and then they should follow tasks as well as what is expected related to evaluation. It is a project work in smaller groups and it is clearly defined what the final product should be. To finish the work we have chosen a topic to make our own WebQuest. We made our WebQuest it with an app called TES. This is what we made with my friend Edda for our final project called Let's go abroad.   The goal of the project was that pupils get useful in interesting information on Malta, if we take them abroad for one week for learn English.  We showed our project to the class on Friday our last day of class. While I watched the other presentations, I realized that we have learnt qu

Story bird is a free platform for everyone. It is a platform for writers, readers and artist. It lets anyone make visual stories very quickly.   You can easily do something like this.  In the evening we made a tour to city Marsaxlokk, a small fishing Village. There you can see many beautiful colorful boats in the peaceful harbor. We walked round the area and then we have a late dinner in typical Maltese restaurant where we try local fresh seafood. I really liked the  colorful doors and balconies on the buildings. 

Canva is an app tool for design images, for photography, design invitations for celebrations or thanks giving cards.. Is nice to users, it is really easy and simple to use.. For example I made this. We learned how to make Word clouds. We were using an app   WORDART . It is easy, fun and customizable.  It is easy, fun and customizable. This is an example that I made for a practice. For my beginner class of English I use different words for fruit. You put words that you want to show and pick a shape from the list. You can choose colors, shape, and customize the text... This is a second example for Word Clouds. You can use articles and chose your own picture for a shape. I used an article about Malta and a picture (from DuckDuckGo) for a shape. On Thursday we had a school trip to Mdina. It is amazing city, like all the places on Malta that I have seen and it is the highest point on Malta. Like the city Victoria on Gozo, it was built and created out of a need for protection against invaders. We could see the main landmarks and we also got a beautiful night view round Mdina. Teacher showed use many ways of how we can use a smart board in the class. He showed us practical examples which he had used in his class.  Here are some options. -hiding pictures, text and objects - for a starting motivation -drag and drop - gap fill (put right/correct words in text) -drag and drop - matching (pictures and words) -drag and drop in shapes -magic papers -Venn diagrams -for classroom presentations -integrate portals (GoogleEarth, GoogleMaps, GoogleStreetView,...) -for classroom cinema -for using Skype (to have an interview with famous writer, actor, actor,...)

The island is really famous for the Blue Lagoon and is the most famous tourist attraction because of the beautiful colors that you can see there. The place is amazing, but really crowded. We decided to go away from crowds, so we walked to the other side of the island and find some nice place called Santa Maria caves. LEARNING APPS Today we were making different learning tools for a class. You can find many different apps for making tools on this page:   learningapps Our teacher Mario showed us at the start of the class these   learning apps   he then explained to us how we could create our own ones. Here you find free apps for creating your own board games: puzzle maker tools for  educators I really like this app too, specially the ‘random name picker’. It is a very useful tool for a class. It helps teachers to random pick somebody from class. We will never again argue with children who is first, second...last. Our school ETI organized a school trip to capital city of Malta, Valetta. We drive to the city with special Maltese buses. It was guided with local touristic guide. We saw all important touristic points in Valletta. The city was constructed by the Knights Hospitaller. The city is Baroque in character, with elements of Neo-classical and Modern architecture. In the city is many baroque palaces, gardens and churches. In this year 2018 it is an European capital of culture. It impressed me so much, that I visited city one more time on the day light.

SparkAdobe  Program changes slides into the movie. It is a nice and friendly program.

CARTOONS Cartoons are good for discussions in funny way, for graphics, for introducing books, create own story, for art class, for story boards... I made cartoons with app ToonDoo  for my beginner English class.  WEBSITE W e made a website with the app   WIX.   Our training teacher showed us how to start it and also how to include pictures, videos in audio, menus, maps... Avatars An  avatar  is the  graphical representation  of the  user  or the user's  alter ego  or  character . An icon or figure representing a particular person in a video game, Internet forum, etc. You can use them in the class for teaching pupils how to make them. I made avatars in Program Voki. You can add (open and closed) questions about movie. You can also cut the movie into shorter sequences. For my Beginner English Class I made this movie. It is the song, for learning colors, with quizzes inside. Saving and publishing Movie Make a movie in Edpuzzle. Then save it in to the classroom. We took a class picture of all teachers that came for the same course ICT TEL. Teachers were from all over Europe (Austria, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovenia). Most of our afternoons and evenings we spent together and shared information about our work, school and teaching experience. At the same time we explored Malta. First afternoon we explored St. Julians where we were staying and enjoyed Balluna beach. St. Julians Balluna bay

On Monday 20. August 2018 I started the Interactive Course ‘Technology Enhanced Learning’ (ICT TEL) course in Malta. There are primary and secondary teachers from all over the Europe.  Firstly, we introduced ourselves to the class and afterwards we talked about our intention as English and computer science teachers. In addition, we made a reflection about our goals for the next two weeks. Then we talked about GoogleApps (Gmail, GoogleDrive, GoogleDoc) for what apps are useful.  After that we talked about Blogger for what it is useful and how to make one . With all of this information and tutorials each person in the class made one for himself.
